This is the demo where you can try out Quetzal. Content is expected to change in the final release but players should get a good idea of how the main mechanics work and if it's a game for them.

The demo includes levels from the first two areas of the game, as well as a boss encounter.

We would love to receive feedback in order to improve the experience, so please feel free to reach out!

Hi, Tissue Inu. I was watching your Godot tutorials today and noticed a cool effect where the WaterFountain object is highlighted using beams. I couldn't find similar shaders for that. Could you please share how you implemented that? It would be really helpful for me to delve deeper into this topic! Thanks in advance for the feedback!

is it going to be free to play, plz make it free sir/mam

Hello there Tissue Inu, found that you are also here on itchio so thought to share this here in your page! The game has lots to offer but its difficulty from the very start makes most players give up easily! I see you have lot of things added and changed in the game with a great creative work! Well done.

I finished the demo and it was good! I also have feedback:

  • I really liked the vertical level before the end of the demo, I think they should be more levels like it.
  • The boss fight was really good! His bullets attack only needs an effect or an animation before firing like the ground attack or the dash attack, I died twice because I didn't have any idea it will fire bullets.
  • I liked the bouncing after attacking in the air but I think it was overused. Also, It was a little hard to use, maybe make it bounce higher and the hitbox bigger. Levels also need other things like more enemies.
  • The lava or the red liquid... I hate it, it punishes the player hardly.
  • The moving saws were a little bit fast.
  • The game needs more SFXs, Like when jumping, landing, attacking, etc.

It was a little bit harder than what I expected for a demo but it was great! I can't wait for the full game to be released!

Thanks for the candid feedback! Glad you liked it.

I will for sure take these into account and see how I can improve the game with them. Thanks for leaving a comment!

How do I swipe,  I've tried the left mouse button as it prompted but it didn't work. I also plugged in my ps4 controller and tried square but that didn't work either.

Hey! Sorry to hear it isn't working. Could you provide more details of how you're playing? Are you using the Windows or Mac build?

It's not an issue I've come across but I would try reconnecting both the mouse and the ps4 controller and seeing if that works. If it still fails, you could try the demo out in Steam and seeing if that helps:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1953670/Quetzal/

If it still doesn't work let me know and we can figure something out.

I am using the windows build. All other inputs seem to be working as I can move and jump. I am able to use the mouse in the menu screen but just not in game for the swipe mechanic. I will try reconnecting both devices and if that doesn't work I'll try the steam page as you said. Thanks.

Yeah, I tried reconnecting the mouse and controller but that didn't work. I tried the download from the steam page and eventually I was able to swipe once after spam clicking the mouse button many times. I tried doing the spamming again but it didn't work. I don't know what to do.

Reach out to me through discord (tissueinu#2246) and I'll do everything I can to help you out. I'm sorry that you're having this issue but I am completely unable to reproduce it on my own so it's really hard to fix.

Today I'll release a new versions with alternative mappings for the swipe attack to see if that helps.

In the meantime, if you're using a ps4 controller, you could try two things:

- Go to https://gamepad-tester.com/ and check if the square button is being triggered there.

- Use ds4windows (https://ds4-windows.com/) to make the PC think your ps controller is an xbox one.

But as I said, please reach out and we can figure something out.

Hey, I've made an update to attempt to solve the input issue. If you give it a try please let me know.

Yup, it worked. I'm able to play with both mouse and controller now. Thank you so much, I can't wait to complete the demo.
